Soybean Oil

The Whitaker Company > Products > Soybean Oil

SUMMARY

Blown Soyabean Oil is obtained when Soyabean oil is subjected to controlled oxidation resulting in its modified physical properties. Blown Soybean Oil can be used as a base oil or additive in industrial lubricants, in the formulation of coatings, paints, and varnishes, in the production of printing inks, in the production of adhesives and sealants and in the production of biodiesel fuel.

INDUSTRIES

  • Oil & Gas: Functions as a base oil, carrier, or processing aid in lubricants, fuels, and specialty fluids.
  • Paints & Coatings: Provides formulation support, improved flow, and natural oil properties in coatings and paints.
  • Chemical Manufacturing: Serves as a renewable feedstock, solvent, or intermediate in chemical production.
  • Adhesives & Sealants: Acts as a plasticizer or carrier to enhance bonding, flexibility, and application performance.

APPLICATIONS

  • Fuel Production & Additives: Serves as a renewable component or carrier in biofuel and additive formulations.
  • Greases & Lubricants: Functions as a base or additive to enhance lubrication, viscosity, and performance of greases and oils.
  • Coatings: Improves flow, adhesion, and formulation stability in industrial and decorative coatings.
  • Paints & Varnishes: Provides natural oil properties to enhance leveling, finish, and durability.
  • Chemical Industry: Acts as a renewable feedstock, solvent, or intermediate in various chemical processes.
  • Adhesives & Sealants: Supports bonding, flexibility, and performance in adhesive formulations.
  • Dyes, Pigments & Inks: Functions as a carrier or solvent to improve pigment dispersion and ink performance.

MARKET SEGMENTS

  • Industrial: Used across manufacturing and processing operations for lubrication, formulation, and performance enhancement.
  • Inks: Acts as a carrier or solvent to improve pigment dispersion, flow, and print quality.
  • Oils: Serves as a base or additive in lubricants, processing oils, and specialty fluid formulations.
  • Fuels: Incorporated as a renewable component or carrier in biofuel and fuel additive applications.

FUNCTIONS

  • Additive: Enhances or modifies product characteristics such as stability, performance, or processing behavior.
  • Plasticizer: Improves flexibility, reduces brittleness, and enhances workability in formulations and materials.
  • Stabilizer: Maintains formulation integrity, preventing degradation, separation, or unwanted reactions.
  • Inhibitor: Helps prevent or slow chemical reactions, oxidation, or other degradation processes in products.
