SUMMARY
Monoethanolamine is a colorless liquid. It is used as an antimicrobial agent, analytical reagent for solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography, dilution agent, pH regulating agent in packaging and printing inks, and for the production of wood-treatment chemicals and detergents and surfactants. It is also used as a scavenger for CO2 and H2S gas, hide softeners, hair-waving agents, agricultural chemicals, and antibiotics. It is employed in soaps, cosmetics, polishes, paints, cutting oils, and textile processing and in the photographic color-developing bath.
