Nonylphenol is a viscous liquid or solid at room temperature that is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol and acetone. Nonylphenol is used as a surfactant, an intermediate chemical in the production of antioxidants, lubricating oils, resins, and plastics, and as a dye and pigment dispersant for textiles.
